Our Diverse Portfolio of Different Companies
MHL Auto SA
We are the national distributors of Mahindra & Mahindra Automobiles in Mozambique. With our sales and service facilities in 13 cities, we have been the largest distributor for the last four years. Our strategic partnership, spanning over 27 years, has made us the pioneers in sales volume.
In 1997, we acquired Anfrena, the state-owned shipping and freight forwarding company. The company has warehouses and infrastructure in several ports and border posts, and it operates the biggest warehouse and storage spaces in all major ports of the country.
We have leveraged Anfrena’s national presence to expand into road toll operations. Behalf of the government, we are able to collect tolls and entry taxes at the border posts in Mozambique.
In 2007, we created Anfrena’s Petroleum Infrastructure Division to expand into petroleum pipeline and storage construction. Since then, the company executed several EPC contracts in Mozambique. It rebuilt the Matola Port Petroleum Fuel Terminal on behalf of the Port and Railway Authority of Mozambique (CFM) and received a long-term contract for operation and maintenance.
Anfrena has constructed storage facilities for Vale, Puma Energy, and Petromoc, the national fuel distributors of Mozambique.
The company has also helped to develop the country’s LPG infrastructure by constructing marine LPG terminals and bulk storage facilities at Maputo and Beira ports.
Africa Drilling Company (Afrodrill) Ltd
Our subsidiary, Afrodrill, leverages advanced drilling capabilities to develop water supply and irrigation systems. With 12 drilling teams operating independently, it has successfully executed key projects for several government and international agencies such as UNICEF, World Vision, and African Development Bank.
With partial funding from Exim Bank, Afrodrill has constructed over 7,000 borewells across the country as part of LoC-funded rural water development projects for the National Directorate of Water. The company has also expanded into the design and development of community and municipal water supply systems and irrigation projects.
Agro-Industrial e Chá de Tacuane, LDA
We formed Agro-Industrial e Chá de Tacuane by acquiring a 10,000-acre tea estate in the Zambezia province of Mozambique. After six years of successful operations, the company repurposed the estate for cultivation of rubber, legumes, and spices with nurseries and irrigation infrastructure.
Indústria Nacional De Uniformes Policiais (INUPOL) Ltd
In partnership with the home ministry of the Government of Mozambique, we formed INUPOL Ltd. The company manufactures and procures logistics and equipment for police forces, customs officers, border security forces, and presidential guards.
Fabrica De Uniformes Militares (FAUMIL) Ltd
In 1996, we developed Fabrica De Uniformes Militares (FAUMIL) Ltd in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence under the Government of Mozambique. The company manufactures, procures, and supplies logistics requirements for the Mozambican army. Currently, it owns and operates the longest-running garment manufacturing facility in the country, completing 25 years of operation in 2021.
Strides Pharma Mozambique SA
We formed Strides Pharma Mozambique in collaboration with former Strides Arcolabs Ltd, India. After leading a strategic partnership for years, we acquired the company completely in 2017.
Strides Pharma Mozambique owns and operates the country's first and only operating pharmaceutical factory that indigenously produces 40 products — including essential medication, including antiretroviral therapy. The factory produces general and beta lactam oral solid dosages in five production lines, including tablets, capsules, and dry powder syrups.
In 2018, the company partnered with Mylan to manufacture 11 anti-retroviral, pre-exposure prophylaxis, and anti-malarial treatments in the country. In 2020, the company also acquired Sociedade Moçambicana de Medicamentos from the Mozambican government. This was done to increase its oral solid dosage capacities and develop its abilities to expand into liquids and injectable manufacturing.
We became a stakeholder of Petrogás to expand into import, storage, distribution, and retail of LPG and LPG cylinders in Mozambique. With a current market share of 30%, our company delivers cooking gas to several rural areas in Mozambique.
